Answers to frequently asked questions about our practice, services, and policies
Appointments
How do I schedule an appointment?
To get started, you must first complete the New Patient Intake Packet. You can do this four ways: online at dlhconsultant.com/new-patients, by calling (774) 929-7420 and we'll send it by email, text, or mail, by stopping by our office at 516 Hawthorn St., Dartmouth to fill out a paper version, or by leaving a message after hours. Once we receive your completed intake packet, our intake coordinator will reach out within 2 business days to schedule your first appointment.
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit will be a comprehensive evaluation lasting approximately 60 minutes. Your provider will review your symptoms, medical history, current medications, and treatment goals to develop a personalized care plan.
How long are follow-up appointments?
Follow-up appointment lengths vary by service type. Psychiatric follow-up sessions are typically 20 minutes, while counseling sessions are 45-60 minutes depending on your treatment plan.
Can I choose my provider?
Yes! We encourage you to browse our Providers page to learn about each practitioner. When you call to schedule, let us know your provider preference and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
Telehealth
How do telehealth appointments work?
Each provider has their own telehealth link. At your scheduled appointment time, simply click the telehealth link on your provider's card on our Providers page to join the secure video session.
What technology do I need for telehealth?
You'll need a device with a camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer) and a reliable internet connection. No special software installation is required — sessions run through your web browser.
Are telehealth appointments as effective as in-person visits?
Research shows that telehealth psychiatric appointments are just as effective as in-person visits for most conditions. Many patients prefer the convenience and comfort of receiving care from home.
Is telehealth covered by my insurance?
Most insurance plans now cover telehealth appointments at the same rate as in-person visits. Contact your insurance provider directly to verify your specific telehealth coverage and any applicable copays or deductibles.
